Nutella Twist Pastry
This recipe is absolutely delicious and appropriate for family gatherings or just the two of us. (Yes, I will eat more than my share of this!) It is so easy to prepare. No need for making your own dough, just use a crescent roll sheet. Notice there is a 15 minute rest time in the refrigerator. It is absolutely necessary, or the dough is too soft to braid well. (See picture below.) The Nutella twist is extremely popular, so don’t expect to have leftovers. Easy and impressive, give it a try!

Nutella Twist Pastry
Ingredients
- 1 roll Crescent sheet
- 2/3 cup Nutella, soften so it spreads easily
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar sprinkle on top
- 1 egg white for a wash
- 1 tbsp flour for the parchment
Instructions
- Open the Crescent roll and flatten the sheet onto a piece of floured parchment on a cookie sheet. Spread warmed Nutella over dough to within a half inch or so of the edges.
- Roll from the long edge into a tube.
- Place pastry in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes so that it is easier to manipulate.
- I skipped refrigerating it once, and it was a mess.
- Remove from refrigerator and, using a sharp knife, slice down the center.
- Braid the two sides, alternating and twisting slightly so that some of the layers show. Pinch the ends together.
- It makes the pastry look amazing! Beat the egg white, and brush onto the twist.
- Bake at 350° for about 20-25 minutes. Remove when nicely browned.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
- Allow to cool slightly. Slice and serve.
